Panari Island, Japan
Home to a whopping 13 or so inhabitants, Aragusuku Island (colloquially referred to as Panari, which means ‘separated’) is in fact two distinct islands called Kamii and Shimoji. Connected by a long shoal, it becomes easy to travel from one island to the other by foot during low tide. Visiting the islands lends the impression that one has lost themselves in a surreal landscape. Rocky outcrops covered in greenery surround dazzlingly bright turquoise water full of coral reef, tropical fish, and other incredible flora and fauna. Chances are high that after one visit, you’ll find yourself wishing that you could become the destination’s 14th resident.

Jenny Lake, Wyoming
Tucked amidst the borders of Grand Teton National Park, Jenny Lake was formed over 10,000 years ago by glaciers and spans an impressive 4.82 km². One of the most remarkable things about Jenny Lake is the seemingly transparent waters that lap its rocky shore. Surrounded by breathtaking mountains and lush forests, you’d be hard pressed to find a more relaxing spot. That being said, if sitting by the water isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of other activities to keep you busy. Hiking, canoeing, swimming, or just taking in the magnificence of nature.

Calanque de Sormiou, France
Move over, tour Eiffel, and make way for Calanque de Sormiou. This protected spot is a must-see destination that attracts outdoor enthusiasts from across the planet, and for good reason. Situated in the south, this expanse of brilliantly blue water is accessible only by foot or boat (unless you have a reservation at a nearby restaurant), meaning that it’s especially peaceful and idyllic. Work up a sweat on the hike in and then let yourself be refreshed by the cool, clean water. If you’re feeling adventurous, try your hand at rock climbing—the area is well-known for it’s incredible escalade.

Primošten, Croatia
Situated on the Adriatic coast, the town of Primošten is known for it’s resort-like feel and proximity to fabulously clear-watered beaches. While the streets of Primošten are perfect for meandering through, visitors tend to find themselves drawn to beaches like Raduca, with it’s pebbly shores and bright blue water. Spend the day relaxing in the sun and cooling off in the ocean and then head back to the town centre for an incredible meal and perhaps a visit to a discotheque.
