6 DIY Fall Home Decorations
With the year winding down and autumn in the air, it’s time to put away the beach gear and get out the fall décor. Decorating your humble abode doesn’t need to get expensive! Here are 6 simple and affordable DIY home décor projects to keep you surrounded by the season day in and day out.
Fall in a Jar
Keep a tiny piece of fall scenery right on your bedside table with a terrarium, mini pumpkins and some colorful oak leaves. Pick out a nice sized terrarium at your local craft store along with a flat, shallow terra-cotta dish. Cover the dish with a bed of moss and add a mini pumpkin or two with the oak leaves. Fit the terrarium top over the dish and voila- fall in a jar!
Colorful Candles
Its one thing to add some yummy-spiced candle aromas and a soft golden glow to your space, but spruce things up with some autumn flair. Pick up some clear glass candleholders that will leave a bit of space all around the candle when placed inside. Fill the bottom of glass holder with popcorn kernels, candy corn or other seasonal fillers, then nestle that cozy candle right inside.
Gourd Vases
Put away that typical glass flower vase and add some pizzazz with gourd vases instead. This favorite fall vegetable comes in various shapes and size and adds just the right fall touch to a dining table. Just slice off the top and sculpt a couple of holes that will fit florist tubes inside. Add some colorful flowers for a unique floral presentation.
Leaf Prints
Nothing screams fall more than the vibrant colors of the changing leaves. It also makes it easy to create bold and bright decorations for your home. Collect autumn leaves and press onto crafting paper for simple, tasteful wall prints. Add frames and hang a collage to show off your most favorite finds!
Pinecone Forests
Spruce up a mantle or kitchen counter with cute and easy to create pinecone trees! Collect some pinecones—varying sizes are best. Use molds or small pots of your choice that will fit the bottom of the pinecone. Stick pinecones upright with cinnamon sticks or pine needles and attach to the pot. Add artificial grass on top with hot glue.
Easy Accents
Don’t have a lot of time to craft? Add fall décor to your home with simple touches that require little work. Purchase bundles of dried wheat at the craft store and secure the bundles to each baluster of your staircase with twine.
Add color to small candleholders by tying brightly colored leaves around the base. Plastic leaves from the craft store and battery powered candles are best for safety.
