When to Wear Sunscreen (Hint: It's not just at the beach)
Forgetting about sunscreen can be easy when you’re not at the beach or the pool. But while you might not be on island time, the sun is always shining, so it’s important to protect your skin no matter where you go.
Here are some of our suggestions on when and where you should be applying (and reapplying) sunscreen.
Planning your next road trip? Sunburns may not be at the forefront of your mind, but just because you’re in a car, doesn’t mean you’re safe from the sun. In fact, the driver’s side window only blocks about 71% of the sun’s UVA/UVB rays. Make sure you’re applying sunscreen so you can relax and safely enjoy the open road.
Participating in sports
Whether you’re out on the court or on the field, if you’re outside you need to protect your skin from the hours of sun exposure you’re getting. Luckily, Panama Jack has the perfect sunscreen for any athlete. Our lotion and spray Sport Sunscreens come in a non-greasy formula, and they’re water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, so you can sweat worry-free.
Watching outdoor sports
Sports fans need sun protection too! Next time you’re gearing up to go to a game, apply sunscreen 30 minutes before heading out, and throw the bottle in your bag so you can reapply as you’re cheering on your favorite team.
On sunny AND cloudy days
It’s easy to think that the sun isn’t affecting your skin if you’re not really feeling the rays. But assuming you don’t need sunscreen can make the sun even more dangerous. Whether it’s overcast, sunny, or anywhere in between, you should be applying sunscreen any time you’re heading outdoors!
Around reflective surfaces
Did you know sand reflects about 15 percent of UV rays? And fresh snow can actually double your UV exposure? Sure, it might seem a bit counter-intuitive to wear sunscreen year-round, but whether you’re relaxing on the beach or hitting the slopes, it’s important to protect any exposed skin from the sun.
Other factors to consider
Your location and the weather aren’t the only factors that will affect your level of protection from UV radiation. For the best protection, opt for Broad Spectrum sunscreen, with an SPF of at least 30, and be sure to reapply at least every two hours.
