Sea Monsters from Across the World
Sure, you’ve heard of the Loch Ness Monster but how about Mokèlé-mbèmbé? Or Okanagan Lake’s Ogopogo? From seemingly benign sea serpents to creatures that belong in horror movies, we take a look at sea monsters across the world.
The Loch Ness Monster – Loch Ness, Scotland
First described as a “water beast” by Adomnán in the seventh century AD, the Loch Ness Monster (Nessie, if you’re close) has been making appearances in all sorts of tall tales and I-swear-it’s-true stories for a very, very long time. While the descriptions of the alleged monster vary, the consensus holds that she’s very large and, if she catches you off guard, very scary.
Efforts to prove Nessie’s existence have been plentiful but so far, no definitive evidence has been put forward. Sightings have popped up as recently as 2014, when Apple’s mapping system captured what many claim to be a shot of the aquatic beast. Why not book a trip to visit Loch Ness, a place so beautiful it’s legendary, and see for yourself.
