Smoking Kills… Unless You’re a Sponge

At first glance, this looks like some sort of movie magic where they just added the “smoke” in, but when you watch the video, you realize that every sponge actually does this every day. We just can’t see it happening because it does it with water, which is clear. How scientists figured out that sponges do this is beyond me, for all I know, one day two marine biologists were hanging out and one just said, “Hey watch this!” and then started squirting dye all around a sponge. These things happen. Luckily, they decided to record it the next time they went and now we have this incredible video of sponges “smoking.”
