5 Great Beach Camping Spots for Spring

There’s something about America’s ocean shorelines that helps you shake off the winter blues. With summer on the way, dig out your bathing suits, surfboards and camping gear and head for the beach. These five awesome camping spots are all different—some boast white sands and others offer stunning cliffs. But whichever camp spot you pick, be sure to bring the sunscreen and your snorkel!

Wai’anapanapa State Park, Hana, HI

Take your time when you finally arrive on this beach—one of Hawaii’s most amazing sites with its jet-black sand, bright blue waves and lush jungle. You might be on the road to Hana, but this beach is where you’ll want to stop for a night or two. Make sure you snag a camping permit online before you arrive, and then set up your tent or hammock on the lawn. Once you’ve established your camp, head for a hike to the lava fields or, if you’re brave enough, try a little cliff jumping. Once you return to your campsite, kick back, break open a coconut and watch the sun set into the Pacific Ocean.
